Creating a Social Media Page for an Early Pioneer in Women’s Nonfiction

Objective:

In this assignment, you will research and create a social media page for an early pioneer in women’s nonfiction. The goal is to showcase their contributions to the field and highlight their impact on society. Through this project, you will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of women’s voices in nonfiction writing and explore creative ways to present historical figures in a modern context.

Instructions:

  1. Research an Early Pioneer in Women’s Nonfiction:
    • Select an early pioneer in women’s nonfiction. This could be an author, journalist, essayist, or any other notable figure who made significant contributions to the field.
    • Conduct thorough research on the chosen pioneer, gathering information about their life, works, key ideas, and the historical context in which they wrote.
  2. Create a Social Media Page:
    • Choose a social media platform (such as Instagram, X, or Facebook) to create a page for your selected pioneer.
    • Design the layout and appearance of the page, ensuring it reflects the style and aesthetic of the chosen social media platform.
    • Include key components such as a profile picture, cover photo, bio, posts, and hashtags.
    • Incorporate engaging content that showcases the pioneer’s achievements, notable quotes, major works, and their impact on women’s nonfiction writing.
    • Use multimedia elements (images, videos, links) to enhance the visual appeal and interactivity of the page.
  3. Written Reflection:
    • Write a 1-2 page reflection paper that explains the rationale behind your design choices and the content included on the social media page.
    • Reflect on the importance of the pioneer’s contributions to women’s nonfiction writing and how their work continues to resonate today.
    • Discuss the challenges faced by early women writers and the significance of their voices in shaping societal perceptions.
